Budget Websites (ABN 60 302 500 383) ("we", "us", "our") is based in Taigum, Queensland. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and how you can access it or make a complaint. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What personal information we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our business. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- your name, email address, phone number and business name;
- the content of messages and enquiries you send us;
- project details, such as website content, images, logins and access details you give us so we can build, repair, host or maintain your website;
- billing details, such as your billing address and payment records (we do not store full credit card numbers);
- technical information about your visit to our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed and how you arrived at our site.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health, racial or religious information). Please do not send it to us. You can deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym when making a general enquiry, but we will need your real details to quote for or provide services.
2. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you fill in our contact form, email or message us, request a quote, become a client, or interact with us on social media. We also collect technical information automatically when you use our website (see Cookies and analytics). If someone else gives us your information (for example, a colleague who manages your business website), we will handle it under this policy.
3. Why we use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiries and prepare quotes;
- design, build, repair, host, maintain and optimise websites for our clients;
- communicate with you about your project or account;
- send invoices and manage payments;
- improve our website and services;
- meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
We will not use or disclose your information for any other purpose unless you consent, you would reasonably expect it, or the law requires or allows it.
4. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, for example which pages are popular. This information is generally collected in a form that does not identify you directly. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Our pages also load content from third-party services, including Google Fonts, Google Maps (on our contact page) and content delivery networks (Cloudflare cdnjs and unpkg). These providers may receive your IP address and browser information when you view our site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share it with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as needed for them to do so. These include:
- web hosting, domain and email providers;
- software and cloud storage providers;
- payment processors and our accountant or bookkeeper;
- third-party platforms you ask us to connect to your website (such as Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Mailchimp or Instagram).
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, for example to a court or government authority.
6. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where providers such as Google, Cloudflare and Mailchimp operate. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Marketing
We will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them or would reasonably expect them, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to stop at any time by emailing us.
8. Storage and security
We store personal information electronically with reputable providers and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These steps include password protection, multi-factor authentication where available, and limiting access to people who need it. Website logins you give us are used only for your project. We recommend you change them when the work is finished.
No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will take prompt steps to contain it and notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required by law.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax records are generally kept for five years). After that, we delete it or remove details that identify you.
9. Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete. Email us at hello@budget-websites.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We will not charge you for making a request. If we refuse a request, we will explain why in writing, unless the law says we cannot.
10. Automated decisions
We do not use computer programs to make decisions about you that significantly affect your rights or interests. If this changes, we will update this policy to explain what kinds of decisions are made and what information is used.
11. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at hello@budget-websites.com.au, with details of your concern. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
12. Changes to this policy and contact details
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
